Thanks for you comment, Tony.

Sorry to have to disagree with you on Kombuca. I refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha. I checked several other references and all agree that it's no more healthy than eating fruit. It has no demonstrated efficacy against anything.

I have to go back to the same reasoning I used at the end of the post. If any so-called "natural healing agent" can live up to it's claims, then why isn't is used universally? Why isn't it widely acclaimed by doctors and health workers? The truth is in the results. They simply don't work and they keep people from seeking genuine medical treatment.

It's easy to make claims from anecdotal evidence (I drank some and I felt better.) and "testimonials". This is not, however, the way to to determine medical efficacy.

I hate to disagree with someone who reads my jibber-jabber and take the time to comment. However, you'd have to prove to me that Kombucha is more effective than Wopa biscuits. You'd have to prove it with standard clinical tests.

Buai? It's hard to imagine anything worse for your health. On that one, I think we'd agree.

Tony, keep reading and challenge me whenever you like. Sometimes I get it wrong.

Thanks,
MadDog

Natural Kombucha tea does have some healing properties and can boost your immune system. Although curing HIV is quite a stretch. Certainly it is a better road than buai and wopa biscuits.

Bill, thanks for the kind words, but I'm not really all that brave. I do consider the risks of this kind of behaviour not only to me, but my wife and my organisation.

I also think that you are correct about shaming. This is a shame culture, not a guilt culture. Shaming is very effective, though, as you said, a bit risky.

I'll keep on harassing such people as long as I feel that I'm not taking unacceptable risks. I just wish I had some company. It would be nice if a few indigenous folk got upset about these activities and decided to do something. Then we'd see some results.

Thanks for your comment.

Man you got guts! Keep on the good work however. These charlatans need to be stopped and shaming them is a good way of doing that.
